Whew! Today is Day 90 abstaining from binge-eating. Here are the recent milestones on my journey toward health and harmony with the Universe:
June 11, 2008: The day I gave up meat, fish and poultry.
March 17, 2009: The day I gave up dairy and eggs and other animal derived products (the day The Engine 2 Diet by Rip Esselstyn came!)
July 9, 2009 (approx): The first day I abstained from binge-eating, mindless snacking, frivolous tasting, and generally overdoing it with food.
I meant to post here every day in October 2009 because it's Vegetarian Awareness Month, and I've already missed Wednesday and Thursday after busy days and getting back to the computer at home pretty late, but here I am again.

The bingeing 91 days ago involved mindless candy-eating. Yesterday I got an asthmatic throat tickle and began coughing at work while in a meeting with someone. My water mug was empty, and the bigger jug was at the back in the kitchen, so I didn't want to interrupt. Using my inhaler never occurred to me, and I took a stale gumdrop that didn't help, and then took a wrapped candy from the stash I'd been rummaging in almost 90 days before, and it did help. But I could have gone crazy with that and eaten many more. Thank goodness I didn't, because today I am trying to eat only foods that are good for me and which involve ethical choices. A candy binge does not qualify!
So, I am grateful to have made it today to Day 90 and still feeling good about me. It's a process, a journey, a path of personal growth. So be it.
